Prof. Dr. Carla Marello (Turin, Italien) "Foreign language learning and corrective feedback"

Is linguistic noticing a consequence of language  awareness and particularly of metalinguistic reflection or a prerequisite?
How much “corrective feedback”  in second language teaching depends on metalinguistic awareness?
Such questions will be dealt with while discussing answers to multiple choice tests with distractors derived from utterances containing mistakes.  Assigning graded scores to distractors according to their degree of deviance from the standard will be considered as a way of eliciting  students’ metalinguistic awareness . Utterances with mistakes are taken  mainly from VALICO (Varietà di Apprendimento della Lingua Italiana Corpus Online, i.e. 'Online Corpus of the Learning Varieties of the Italian Language' - www.valico.org) and from English L2, French L2, German L2 classroom activities in Italian universities.
